Fire!!

Fire!!

Monday morning, we woke up (earlier than I wanted to be awake) to hear the news, Santa Rosa was burning. The night before I remember telling myself to watch a certain YouTube video the next day I wanted to see but kept forgetting, the next morning though YouTube never entered my mind as we tried to decide if we should pack up and leave before a mandatory evacuation was given.

We left our home Monday to stay with my mom, by Wednesday our home only had an advisory evacuation and my husband went back to save some more of our belongings, I have never been so worried! I didn’t know how close the fire was to our home, but I had heard it was still only 3% contained and with how fast it had started and destroyed so much, I couldn’t help but worry. When he was able to text me and let me know the fire was still a ways off and that he was ok, I was overjoyed and thankful, but sad at the same time for the other people and places who weren’t so lucky.

Rio Lindo Adventist Academy is in danger of being burned, Redwood Adventist Academy has already burned and so many other loses the destruction is unbelievable and incredibly heartbreaking.

The possible loss of our apartment seems inconsequential to the damage these fires have already done, now all we can do is await the news of the fires destructive path and pray for the firefighters and civilians still in the center of this danger.

  1. The fire in my home town came within 200 yards of my parents’ house. I cannot believe how much loss and destruction is happening in Cali right now. It’s completely heartbreaking!!
