I am a very insecure person but the friends I have aren’t bothered by my inadequacies and have continued to surprise me with their understanding.Friendship is one of the most important things in life, without my friends I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today. Being Married; having a spouse, is one of the most wonderful and difficult things I have ever done, but a spouse is not always enough. Sometimes you need more than what one person can give, you need a friend.

“A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself” – Jim Morrison

When I went to a boarding school for my junior year of high school, I was so nervous, I had no idea what to expect. On my first day this beautiful girl with blonde hair came up to me during the Get-to-know-you dinner, she introduced herself and smiled as if she didn’t see the wheelchair or simply didn’t care. This is the friend that introduced me to my husband.

My Wedding was a very big day for me, I was going to live with a man!!! And move to an area that I love but my parents didn’t live, for me with my disability that was a big step.

A wedding is a very busy day for the bride and everywhere I looked my friends where there…

One of my friends helped do my hair.

  1. Your wedding was so lovely… When your dad carried you down the aisle, I cried. You wouldn’t let your life hold you back from being there for any of us either… You were right there when I needed you on my big day, umbrella in hand, rolling down the aisle. And this is so awesome!

  2. That’s freakin’ amazing! You know, its funny. During middle and high school, I was always told by my teachers that once we were out of school and in the real world, we’d probably lose contact with even our favorite friends as we all moved away from each other and followed our own paths through life. I think most of us thought that was ridiculous, and that we’d all at least drop in occasionally to say hi. It turns out, for me at least, that was completely true. Since I moved a state away halfway through highschool, it meant I didn’t get to see the kids I had gone to school with since I was in 1st grade anymore, and I didn’t have enough time at my new school to build really strong friendships. Oddly enough, the friendship that has lasted the longest has been with my buddy Brent, who lives thousands of miles away in Toronto, and is somebody I met online playing video games. Going to school again has been awesome though, because I’ve got to meet tons of interesting people, and generally they have at least some of the same interests as I do. #cs5711
